What to do when your 21 year old is thrown in jail for the 5th time in 3 months on prostitution charges?  Starky should probably stop hooking.   She can’t seem to stop attracting the police in whichever city she tries to ply her trade.  If anyone has a job for her, please contact us.  Someone needs to help.

Another interesting night at the office. Two phone calls can put a lot of levity in your life.

The first call was from an indemnitor who did not appreciate getting a bill in the mail. It has been eight months since the defendant was bailed out of jail. In that time he has made sputtering, at best, payments. She said she only paid the ‘down payment’ and the defendant had a personal guarantee with her that he would pay the premium. I asked if she remebered signing the bail agreement. She stated that it didn’t matter, he had told her he was paying. I guess she missed the class that went over the signing of contracts and personal liability for failure to honor contracts. She told me she guessed that she would just have to go spend her day in court and that we should ‘do what we have to do’. I guess we will let the judge decide….

The next call was one that I have never received before. A lady called and said her friend has a boyfriend who has been in and out of jail for three years. He had been arrested recently for a parole violation and was going to be in the Los Angeles County Jail for awhile. She wanted to know if she could have conjugal visits with him if she were to marry him. She didn’t want to marry him (because he’s not a good guy) but wanted to have conjugal visits and figured they needed to be married in order to do so. I told her to skip the wedding, there are no conjugal visits at the County Jail.

As the title says “Los Angeles Bail Bonds …just another day”

Some late calls are more interesting than others. These callers were worried about a murderer getting released from jail and hunting them down. Although I’m more used to people calling to get people out, I still was able to help them out.

So, I got a phone call a few nights ago. The caller wanted to bail out her son. I asked for his name, booking number and birthdate. She gave me his name, did not know his booking number and for his birthday she said, “his birthdate is the 12th of December 2nd, 1986. I thought that to be quite an interesting day to be born. Despite the odd birthday, I found him in the system. Oddly enough, he had a “No Bail” hold. He could not be bailed out before he went in front of the judge on the case. I asked if he had ever been in trouble before (already knowing that he obviously had, I just wanted to see how honest she was). Her reply was “No, he hasn’t been in trouble before. This is the first time.” I asked her if he had ever been to prison before. She said “oh, yes, he’s been out for 8 months.” I said, “ok he’s been to prison”. She said yes, he’s been to prison, but this is the first time he’s been in trouble for what he did this time.

I guess there is a reason people continue to go to jail. If it doesn’t mean anything when you go to prison, and you are only getting in trouble for the FIRST time on THIS incident, you can probably look forward to a long life behind bars…

This morning I received a phone call for someone in the Orange County Jail. The bail amount was $10,000. Seeing as business has been slow lately, I was excited to start working on this bond. I asked where the caller was calling from. He stated “Chicago”. This usually starts the problems.
If someone bails out of jail and goes to Chicago, it is nearly impossible to get them back to California. The state of Illinois (where Chicago is located, for those who are geographically challenged) does not have commercial bail. Furthermore, they will charge you with kidnapping if you go into “their” state and try to arrest and return a fugitive to justice.
I informed him that I would need someone to cosign for the bail. He said that his girlfriend (who was the defendant’s sister) would be more than willing to do that. I asked him where she was. “Philadelphia” was his reply. I told him I would need someone in California to cosign. He said that was no problem, the sister will do it. I informed him that she was in Philadelphia, not California. He wanted to know why that was a problem. I informed him that Philadelphia is not in California. At this point he told me he will find someone and call us back. I’m waiting to find out what other parts of the US are in California that I never knew about.
